The website rxlist.com has handy definitions of these terms. Read a pharmacologic description, such as http://www.rxlist.com/cgi/generic2/ziprasidone_cp.htm , and click on the hyperlinked terms to get a definition in a popup window.

For "agonist" it says:
"2. In pharmacology, a drug that binds to the receptor and stimulates the receptor's function. Drugs that mimic the body's own regulatory function are called agonists."

For "antagonist," I get:
"drug antagonist = A drug that prevents receptor stimulation. An antagonist drug has an affinity for a cell receptor and, by binding to it, prevents the cell from responding to an agonist."
