I'm only 27 years old, and have had memory problems, trouble concentrating, low motivation, etc., since taking Zoloft.
My psychiatrist currently has me switching off of it to another drug, because, as he said -- the symptoms are not worth the trade-off.
He called me 'serotonin sensitive,' which means that I develop too much serotonin and that lowers other beneficial neurotransmitters, such as ones involved with my precious memory.
Your mom _may_ be experiencing something similar. I would maybe take her to a good psychiatrist, not just a general practicioner, and talk about what's going on.
Some doctors are unfamiliar with these side effects and will suggest that the symptoms caused by the AD are 'depressive symptoms.' Don't be taken in by this. If she did not have the memory problems, personality changes, low motivation, etc., before Zoloft, then it _is_ possible that she is not having a good reaction to it.
Tell the dr. you just want to 'rule out' the Zoloft as a cause of these symptoms. Then see how she is after withdrawal. I bet her memory and vigor will come back, with maybe some true depression. Then you can work with her and the good psychiatrist on getting something better.
