trileptal sedation

Posted by e503 on April 21, 2003, at 2:43:33

my son is now taking 600 mg. trileptal in the a.m. and 600 mg. at night. (along with 50 mg. zoloft a.m. and 5 mg. buspar and 1 mg. risperdol at bedtime. He is soooooo sedate and obsessive! Yesterday at about 7 p.m. after about 10 hours of taking his a.m. meds, he seemed "happy" and like his old self. As soon as I gave him his p.m. dose within an hour he was real sedate and obsessive again. Any ideas??? Can he take it (trileptal) all in the evening-----or is there another mood stabilizer anyone can suggest? Cannot take zyprexa, seroquel (make him agitated), was on tegretol for many years but had to discontinue because of low white count. HELP!
