prozac cortisol questions

Posted by dave40252 on April 10, 2003, at 10:26:15

Hi there, i have been on prozac(20mg), ritalin(20mg x 2), and wellbutrin (200mg) for a while. Recently I have changed the mix-upping the prozac to 40 and discontinuing the wellbutrin. I think the wellbutrin was making me stupid and i really only took it with the hope of helping mitigate the sexual side effects of the prozac. The change has been pretty good, the fog has lifted a bit and the mood has improved. On the downside - trouble sleeping, sweaty palms, and nervousness. ANyone had these symptoms when increasing the amount of an ssri or have any suggestions?

I have been reading the cortisol posts with interest - i read that coffee can raise cortisol levels - i have been drinking approx a 2 pots a day for years - i believed the caffiene no longer has much of an impact - I am wondering if this could be part of my problem - are there any former coffee junkies out there who gave it up and did it make a difference with yur depression and/or anxiety?

Also i haven't seen any mention of it here - but isn't chromium picolinate supposed to reduce cortisol?
