Both Depakote and Tegrital (of which Trileptal is related as well) were the first meds to have very noticeable effect in reducing my irritability and anger even at low doses...I would highly recommend either of them. Note that there are anti-psychotics some Dr's will prescribe for irritability and anxiety (e.g., rispidone or mellaril) which I do NOT recommend because they can turn a person into a zombie and cause lots and lots of weight gain.
