Selfmedication/Anti-obsessional qualities of opiod

Posted by Caleb462 on March 12, 2003, at 22:50:38

I think I'm going to begin harvesting my own opium, and will medicate my GAD/OCD/Depression/Social Anxiety by chasing the dragon. Haha, I would love to see the look on my former therapist's face if I told her that.

Anyway, yes I am seriously planning on doing this... but I was just wondering, has anyone else ever noticed the STRONG anti-obsessional effects of opiates and opiod drugs. I take 15-30 mg hydrocodone whenever I can get my hands on it (which isn't very often), and it's amazing how drastically it reduces obsessive thinking. No other drug, licit or illicit, can do this for me. I wonder if there is a relation between the brain's opiod system and OCD. Anyone have any thoughts on the matter?
