I think it's not just with Nardil, but with a lot of the psychiatric drugs, that they sometimes don't work as well the second time around. Over the years there have been many people here who commented that that had happened to them. The drugs varied widely from lithium to ssri's to maoi's and others.
I was on Paxil for a year and it worked pretty good. Then I went off it for a year. When I had to go back on, it didn't work.
I tried lithium once. I swear it worked in about 3 hours and I could feel myself getting better by the moment. Just the thought of lithium scared me though, especially the way my hands were so shakey, so I didn't take any more. About a week later I tried again out of curiosity. It did nothing at all. It was like sugar.
But based on comments here over time, I think the phenomenon you are talking about is obvious with a lot more drugs than just maoi's.
