I have experience with distance running and Topomax was not helpful. When I first went on it, I stopped running for a while and just took long walks and worked out at the gym. It was great for that, although I was much weaker at the gym. I lost weight INITIALLY, but gained it back after a few months and when I tried going back on it, it was never the same. It also makes you dumber than a doorpost. When I tried running again, while trying the Topomax again, I had to keep it at around 50mg per day. Anything higher really affected my endurance, motivation, etc. I do not believe it is a good drug for a serious athlete, in my opinion and the weight loss stuff is overated, again, in my opinion, because if it does happen, it is often temporary. Good luck.
