Nortriptyline, from what I have read and also from my own experience, is a very reliable medication.

Unlike SSRI's like Paxil and Celexa, it works mostly on norepinephrine, which means that it's more likely to work if the first two meds didn't, because it uses a different mechanism. It is something of a rough ride at first, it can make you drowsy, but that can be helpful if you have insomnia problems.
