I found this comparison chart helpful, although I'm not as educated on these meds as some of you seem to be.

I'll take TCA's over SSRI's & SNRI's anyday. The side-effects of Zoloft & Celexa were horrendous. (Nausea, headache, sleepiness yet insomnia, & high anxiety). I suffer from GAD more than depression, though. Imipramine & Remeron both agreed with me. Remeron really helped with anxiety -- immediately. Too bad I ate everything in sight. Effexor, prescribed for hot flashes, caused bruising, rigid neck & nausea.
I am trying to get off Effexor now, & the body pain is awful. That's a drug that scares me.
