I never heard of Geodon being used for unipolar major depression. However Im sure it could be used for some cases of bipolar (manic) depression and Im sure its used somewhat for that specific purpose. Since Geodon has some mild serotonin and norephinephrine reuptake properties in addition to its neuroleptic properties, I could see it being used possibly short term in unipolar psychotic depression. However ECT is the preferred treatment for that.

The mild serotonin/noradrenaline properties it has could also be a double edged sword for bipolars however, since bipolars tend to do poorly on SSRI type meds.

For unipolars, longterm Geodon treatment is dangerous, although Im sure there are a few desperate (very desperate) unipolar individuals out there who use it for unipolar depression.
