I DO hope you realise that with all this information about Ginkgo that your throwing my way including your previous thread on this substance ( see http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/20021127/msgs/130105.html ) that I am slowly but surely coming to the view that I MUST start taking this substance again!!

Damn you your going to cost me money{ :) :) :) }

By the way, does anyone know if it is more beneficial to take one larger dose of Ginkgo per day or is it better to spread the dose out say into 2 or 3 smaller doses each day? Or is it really a matter of personal preference and it make no therapeutic difference how you spread out your dose(s)?

The reason I ask this question is because some substances are constantly required by your body , but supplements are either very quickly used up or alternatively the body cannot utilise one large dose all at once (eg vitamin C and Alpha Lipoic Acid) and to obtain maximum benefit from these supplements you need to split the doses into smaller portions throughout the day!!

The only thing I do know is that to get real benefit from Ginkgo Biloba supplements you need to be taking a therapeutic dose as demonstrated in numerous clinical trials (especially in trials to demonstrate the memory enhancing properties of Ginkgo in the elderly) I believe the therapeutic dose to be as follows:

Therapeutic dose = 120mg of standardised ginkgo biloba extract (corresponds to approx 30mg of ginkgo flavonglycosides).
