I've always wondered what it was that DMAE did, so I looked it up. About the only thing I could find was that it interfered with choline metabolism, being similar in structure. Therefore, it's strange to see a source of choline (lecithin) and an inhibitor, in the same product. Back in the seventies, DMAE (and methylphenidate) was investigated as a treatment for what was then known as Minimal Brain Dysfunction, which I believe was a conceptual precursor to ADD/ADHD. For some reason, DMAE fell out of favour, while methylphenidate remained. I believe fish is a good source of DMAE, but whether it's good for ADD is not something I was able to clearly discover.

Fish oil is gaining favour as an augment for ADD/ADHD. I give it to my son, and he seems more attentive and less hyper on it.
