You're doctor's smart.

Neurontin is a very well-tolerated drug. At the right dose, sleeping shouldn't be an issue... probably the only indication for it that isn't hit or miss.

I took it for anxiety. I have off and on problems with sleeping... unfortunately, this means I assume I can go to sleep and by the time I realize I can't I've been staring at the ceiling for an hour and any drug I take will take an hour to kick in.

Neurontin helped my anxiety, but gave me a monotonous quality to my voice (sort of a result of its CNS depressant activity for me). I've never heard others of feeling this way, so I could be unique.

There's no harm in taking it as needed or once a day, or so me and my doctor think. It may take 1-3 hrs, ussually around 2 hours, to take effect. You may notice with regular use you need more of the drug to reach the same effect. That's fine, it's non-addictive and there's no withdrawls.

It's a very safe drug, probably safer than benadryl, in my patheticly ignorant opinion, for sleeping. It shouldn't affect studies at all, so don't worry over that... were you planning to take it during the day too? Most of it would be cleared out by the time you woke up, since 5-6 hours after taking it it is half-gone (and also ineffective at that point).
