I'm sure that the real good ones are also aware of the long term effect of un or under treated anxiety on the psyche and the physical body...many all too obvious to list here.
The best of doctors always assess the benefit/risk ratio with all of their individual patients in the ideal world.The problem is that in a world representing reality (a world coming up quite short of that ideal), drugs are misprescribed, patients are mis dx'd, and patients are not followed up on throughly by physicians - those that in contrast know their patients AND their medications intimately (well the patients not too intimately, that's a whole different subject).
