Yes it's possible that the males did not
respond as well, If I understand correctly
the study mentioned that a higher dose
may be required by males as they tend to
metabolize homosysteine differently
(not exaclty sure of the mechanizms)
It is possible for folate to mask the
symptoms of B12 deficiancy but thats another
reason that I have seen recomendations for
adding B12 just to be sure. I noticed
a difference after two weeks of 1mg folate,
I am a male.

Be honest and objective, If it doesn't seem
to help after a little while, no harm done.
