Effexor and Trazedone Jyl

Posted by GABBI X2 on October 11, 2002, at 13:14:49

Welcome J.Y.L.

I wish I could be objective regarding Effexor, but I can't right now.
I also was on Trazedone, 50 mgs supposedly to help me sleep.

I've been on many medications, and some didn't work, however I've never experienced anything like I did with Effexor. It seemed it took the bit of sanity the tiny bit left untouched by the depression and the medications, and just squashed it.
It didn't have entirely negative effects though so I kept on with it longer than I should have.

Its worked beautifully for some people I know.
And it does have a reputation for being difficult at first. I however would gladly torture the one little capsule I have left if it could give me the satisfaction of screaming!

Gosh, I wish I could help. It was just such an unusual response for me I don't know what the guidelines are for whether or not to stay with it.

I became reactive to everything, hostile, tearful,
had no coordination, couldn't focus, couldn't do the most basic things, like wash dishes. I didn't sleep, I would go for days and then crash.
The reactivity (is that even a word?)and suicidal hopelessness have happened before when I've been terribly depressed, it seemed though the Effexor made it a daily occurence. The hostility was brand new and destructive.
As was the inability to do very basic routine things (it was a new symptom I mean) Its never been a strong point with me, but I was a disaster.

I stuck it out for 6 weeks and called it quits.
And am going through the withdrawl now.

Thats not really helpful is it?
Sorry, it's been a nightmare, really.
Is this your first medication?

Oh hell, I give up trying to make sense.
A confused welcome and if you have any specific questions, I might actually be able to string a few thoughts together and answer you.
Though I'm probably being optimistic...
