My experience with Celexa withdrawl

I quit taking Celexa at the beginning of this August. For two days I went to 10mg from 20mg, and felt fine, then I just quit taking them. That is when I got terrible flu like symptoms, (fever, headache, etc.) just felt like complete crap. I lasted 2 days like that and then went back to taking 10mg for about a week, then I cut back to 5mg for about 5 days. I then quit completely. I didn't get anymore flu like symptoms, but I did get a very weird feeling I had never had before. It was like someone had tied an electric cattle prod to me and kept zapping me every 5 seconds. It was really bad for a few days. I even asked my friend if she could notice anything weird about me when this was happening. She said no. It went away in about 2 weeks. I still sometimes get that feeling, although mild, very mild, when I am very tired.

But the withdrawl problems for me was well worth it because Celexa worked for me with regards to calming the anxiety and depression, I just didn't like the affect it had on my stomach. I would take the withdrawl symptoms over the anxiety/depression symptoms any day.

If you do get withdraw symptoms, just know they will go away.

I am presently not taking anything and seem to be fine, not perfect, but fine.

Good luck.
