> I stopped taking Depakote 4 months ago. I couldn't deal with the flat effect. I have had mood swings, irritability, and moderate depression. I still can't bring myself to take the darn medication. It's not the seduction of mania that keeps me from taking it, it's the side effects. I am on SSI, which helps me deal with stess but I wonder if I am doing the wrong thing. I read the other day that 50% of BPs do not take their meds. Anyone done this? I really hate the fact that I have to take pills the rest of my life that could be damaging my body. By the way, I have progressed from severe mixed states and agitated depression to moderate mania and depression to where I am now which is dysthymic. All this happened without meds. I run, and do yoga and eat really good but am I being stupid?
For people who cant tolerate meds for whatever reason, ECT or ElectroConvulsive Therapy is probably the best alternative. Talk to your doctor about ECT.URCONFUSED
