Jon,

That's EXACTLY what happens to me when I go through seasonal bipolar depressive cycling during the year. I wake up feeling fairly decent, and then about midday I start getting tired and yawning, and have to struggle to avoid napping. Then later in the evening-when I need to get to sleep-I start to wake up again. Then I either have trouble getting to sleep, or I go to sleep right away and wake up 3 hrs. later. I can't go back to sleep for several hours and then I start to get really drowsy and sleepy RIGHT BEFORE I need to get up. I get up to go to work-and I am drowsy and irritable all day-and the cycle repeats. Any AD's I take-need to be short-acting, so they are clearing my system at bedtime. I think the idea of only taking your moclo first thing in the morning is a good one. Take all of the stimulating/activating meds early in the day (and make them short-acting meds), and let yourself crash at nite so you can sleep.
