I am a fan of Ativan, but a bigger fan of Klonopin. Ativan is very short-acting (about 4 hours) and can cause "rebound anxiety" because when it starts to wear off, it does so very rapidly. Klonopin is also a benzo, but lasts about 12 hours and wears off very gradually so you don't have the possible "roller coaster ride effect" of Ativan. Bear in mind, my comments only apply if you are taking the benzo on a regular basis to treat ot prevent chronic anxiety. If you are just going to pop a pill when you feel stressed, then Ativan might be better because it kicks in faster.
