Robin,
Taking the Effexor for only 3 weeks doesn't give you much time to get your feet back under you, imho. I could be totally wrong, but with what you are dealing with (those life events plus internal reactions) I would recommend more time.

I guess my view is sort of like taking antibiotics...you keep taking them even after you initially feel better. I would say 3 weeks on Effexor may alleviate your symptoms ok, but it sounds like you have other work to do before you'll really feel 'whole' again. I'd give it a few months, and during that time you'll be able to handle the loss of a relationship, plus take steps to get your life back on track with eating, sleeping, exercise, etc.

The withdrawal from Effexor can be awful, it is true. That is why it is important to have a good pdoc and a plan for quitting. When you get to the point of getting off Effexor, you can post here again, and look in the archives and get lots of good suggestions for minimizing the impact.

In the meantime, it would be great if you could experience the good benefits, get to feeling better, and not worry about withdrawal. It is doable; many people here have done it and lived to post another day. You can too. If you are back on your feet when you stop taking it, that'll probably make a big difference too.

Good luck.
Shar
