Venlafaxine XR Found Effective in Anxiety!

Posted by utopizen on August 2, 2002, at 21:46:34

Hey, anyone try this? Remarkable conclusion I found in a med journal!

P.S.- I use Neurontin as my non-benzo alternative, but this looks promising, because N for me gets tolerated quickly, making it hard to determine proper dosing. Note this is NOT a trycicylic. I was about to ask for Nardil after hearing all the good news about it, until I read up more about how "dirty" MAOIs can be in terms of effecting memory, cognition, etc.

Conclusions  This study is the first placebo-controlled demonstration of the long-term efficacy of any drug class in treating outpatients with DSM-IV–diagnosed GAD. Venlafaxine XR is an effective, rapidly acting, safe, once-daily agent for both the short- and long-term treatment of anxiety and may provide an important alternative to currently available anxiolytics.
