Yeah, amphetamines have been a treatment for refractory depression forever. However they cant be used if you have psychotic tendencies. Also, many psychiatrists wont prescribe amphetamines to anybody except ADD patients, due to bullshit legal/liability reasons. Thats how it is here in the USA at least. The type of depression amphetamines can be most helpful in would be severe, retarded or melancholic depression with "pseududementia" as Max Fink describes it. Where you have slowed thinking and cognitive problems from severe depression.
