> ... hi Jon, I was wondering how high the neurontin can go, under what circumstances doctors let you go that high, and if any blood test thing is needed?

It was initially taken for social phobia which usually requires high doses. My pdoc thought I might get the additional benenfit of mood stabilization as well. I don't believe any blood test is neeeded. I've heard of people taking 4800mg but I'm not sure what the max is. With neurontin it may have more to do with tolerance. It's not toxic and it has virtually no drug interactions.

Well, for one I have a very difficult to treat mood disorder, and neurontin isn't a very effective mood stabilizer. I believe the most recent clinical studies have shown it no better than placebo. Dr. Phelps who maintains psycheducation.org even says it can promote cycling. It does wonders for some, of course, so it may be worth trying. I am on it mostly for social anxiety, and if anything, it has slightly reduced my physical anxiety. That's it. Anyway, if you are thinking of trying this drug I wish you the best, but don't make it out to be something that it is not. YMMV, of course :)
