I'd really like to keep this thread as 'permanent' as possible..so in the future, others may benefit from our experiences. (Of course..YMMV..etc.) Also, rather that your 'diagnosis'..please list the particular symptoms your med(s) help. I will start:

> Benzodiazepine (Bromazepam) 2x a day (3mg each)

My doc thinks that there are strong links between the two, and that may be why the benzodiazepines can help mania, and why the 'downer' meds like Depakote and Tegretol can help. (I know..they aren't really 'downers'..but involve the slowing down of nerve transmission.)

Jay,

Good idea for a thread.

Current meds:

Lamictal 150mg (helps very slightly with depression)
Depakote 750 (reduces anger, irritability, doubles serum level of Lamictal, makes me very sleeply)
Klonopin (helps me sleep better at night)
Ambien (hypnotic-good for 4 hours sleep, then wide awake)
Hope to restart Prozac next week.....the only AD that ever made life tolerable for me.

In the past year I have been treated by 4 different pdocs....2 say I have Unipolar Major Depression/Recurrent and 2 say Bipolar II/Atypical Depression. Not long ago I was convinced that it was neccessary to have an accurate DX to effectively treat the illness...no more....roll the dice and treat the symtoms. It is only my opinion....the treatment of psyciatric illness is still in the very primitive stages.

Geezer
