My mom OD'd at 48 years old from taking her 'normal' dose of perfectly legal, dr. precribed xanax and consuming alcohol.

Hildi,
Sorry to hear about your mother...you have really frightened me. I don't want to offend you but I really have to ask?? ... was that all she was taking? Did she take too much xanax and go on a drinking binge? Or did she have a 1 beer take .5mg and die? Was that combination determined to be the cause or were there other factors?

I ask because I have been taking xanax for 9 months - very small dosage .5mg daily. But I do drink, generally with more frequency than volume. I have been self-medicating BP for years by sedating mania/hypo-mania with alcohol. If my margarita plus a xanax could kill me I need to know.
Thanks!
holly (aka mom)
