I am a BPII, and hope I can get some input on an ongoing problem with the way my body reacts to certain meds including ADs, mood stabilizers and others. What happens is that they immediately energized/stimulated me for a day or two or three, then went kaput, never to gain their early great effects. It just happened again, with cytomel. I really had high hopes for this med, because I've read that low thyroid and depression are related. For the first few days, I did feel better. Then the cytomel did nothing, even when I increased the dose. (I've been on it 2 weeks). The same thing has happened with Serzone, Dexedrine/ritalin, caffeine, all the MAOIs, Vivactil and Wellbutrin. (I have stayed on Nardil, Vivactil and Wellbutrin, because although they have never reached the energizing benefits they had at first, they help me somewhat but not nearly enough. Most other meds I've tried flatten/sedate me.) Is there any rhyme or reason as to why the up effects don't last with so many different types of substances? I would welcome any thoughts on the subject. Thanks.
