Dex was the drug of choice for abuse in the 50's and early 60's(may be off on the time). Still a stigma there.
Same reason some docs won't prescribe stims at all to adults. They have their head stuck in the mud and don't keep up with current methodologies.
In other words, they don't read Psycho-Babble.
