Susan,Very, very good article. Depakote apears to be only (and not surprisingly)an "antimanic" and "anxiolytic" agent, and the term "mood stabilizing medication" is a poor (pure) metaphoric fiction! (Hey, why didn't Susan Sontag go to med school?) There is NO way I could take Depakote (esp.) or even just lithium during one of my major depressive episodes and make it intact through to the other side without some suicidal ideation and possible loss of job.
