Hello Group ~ I have been taking Effexor XR 150 mg and Ritalin 10 mg for approximately 7 months and the combination appeared to be working quite well until recently when my external stressors increased (i.e. greatly increased workload, etc.). I am now experiencing forgetfulness and difficulty focusing and completing tasks. These are the symptoms that seem to indicate the onset of another bout of depression. I have been on this rollercoaster three times and am trying to prevent a fourth go around. I am hesitant to keep increasing dosages or switching meds when I know part of my problem is that I must learn to set limits and realistic boundaries. How do you know if the dosage should increase?
I first began having symptoms several months after my first child (now 3 years old) was born. I started Prozac . . . BAD choice for me!! It caused severe paranoia so I switched to Paxil after a month. I was on Paxil and Xanax (taken as needed) for six months and then was advised by my PCP to come off. I did and the symptoms returned within months. I began Paxil again and it seemed to work for a while but then just stopped. I then switched to Effexor XR, still have Xanax if needed. I was on 75 mg and increased to 150mg and as I said previously was doing great . . . now I am concerned I am at another crossroads.
Any advice?
