could be. these kinds of symptoms are often so closely bound to an individuals personality & life adaptations that diagnosis is difficult.

what is your reaction to antidepressants?

perhaps the question to ask is are you seriously affected by these swings in energy? do you do stupid things that you later regret? spend too much money? in other words, do social damage to yourself or others?

if the answer is yes, are you willing to use medications that bring with them the possibility of serious side effects? if your moods were smoothed-out, would the benefits of this smoothing outweigh the possible "flattening" of certain parts of your personality? could you then make progress in your life socially, intellectually, financially?
