Hello,
I went to the ER two weekends ago with a migraine headache and possible food poisoning. When I was there, I was given a combo of Reglan and Benadry for my symptoms. (Reglan, now commmonly used as an anti-nausea, was originally an anti-psychotic.)
Since that week, I have been having short-term memory problems and overall lowered cognition/awareness/attention span. For a few days I also had motor difficulties, which have remitted.
I still have days where it is difficult to find words, although my use of language is improving.
Unfortunately, my short-term memory, reading ability, and inicisive mind are still blunted.
My doctors told me that this would improve in 2-4 weeks, and that the fact that I had recently switched SSRI's, in combination with the CNS effects of Reglan were the likely cause for the symptoms. They told me to relax and continue taking an SSRI.
However, after reading about the negative affects of anti-psychotic drugs, I'm becoming concerned that this problem is not as transient as they led me to believe.
Has anyone had experience with Reglan and short-term memory loss?
