Hi Ralph,
When I was on SSRIs (all which make me extremely drowsy) I drank so much coffee I could have been swimming in it.Sometimes it would do nothing at all to help, and even make me feel worse. I think those times had to do with low blood sugar -- if that happens now, I drink a protein shake which does seem to help lift me out of "the crash."
I have noticed that a hefty latte -- with 3 shots of espresso -- will boost me out of those lows (sometimes TOO MUCH, and I get pretty jittery, but I don't mind because it's so much better than feeling like a zombie.) I think espresso must be "cleaner" than regular coffee, because it usually helps me out on my really rough days, whereas coffee usually doesn't do the trick (or makes me worse.)
I know that caffeine is supposed to be a bad thing for me, but sometimes it is my only lifeline through the fatigue. My only addiction left!
Take care...
cindy
