There are a lot of physiological things that occur in a panic attack. Large amounts of norephinephrine or noradrenalive are released into the body. The heart rate increases, you perspirate more. It can feel like a physical cardio event...like you might think you are having a heart attack.

Many of the same drugs used to combat depression are also used to fight panic attacks. Like the SSRIs.
