C'mon, Tina. Attitudes like this don't help you one bit.
Who do you think could answer your question definitively? Who knows what you inherited from each side? And you've been in this maze long enough to know darn well that everyone's life circumstances affect them in a variety of ways.
No one can pinpoint why someone is this way or that. So one side of the family is on Paxil and the other is on Prozac. So what? My mom took SSRIs for her depression. I am pretty certain that her depression was passed on to me to some degree. But you know what? I cannot tolerate SSRIs at all. Who knows why.
You are you, not a cookie cutter version of your elders -- either one side or another or a mix of both. You are not them. Find something that works for YOU! Yeah, it's a lot of work. It sucks and it's expensive, but you are worth it -- even if you don't think so.
We can't do anything about these puzzles until the researchers come up with better tests. We have to do what we can do with the resources we have today.
Please be well and take care. I'm thinking about you and sending hugs.
Love,
alli
