I agree with Sid. A pdoc who would shout at a patient who is just concerned and afraid? -- absolutely unforgiveable, in my opinion.
(Could be, as Sid suggests, that this pdoc is a control freak. Sounds to me like a character or mood disorder, perhaps both!)
Also, this doctor is extremely poorly informed about patient's rights. In fact, he is quite possibly committing MALPRACTICE by telling you not to read the inserts. Why does he suppose the inserts are there? Because they are required by law! because the patient has a right to know of the risks. because the doctor can be sued if the patient has not given an informed consent.
Also, parnate is an MAOI, is it not? (I am not sure, but I seem to recall that it is.) And if so, the doctor must give you very, very precise instructions on foods that you must avoid. MAOIs are very useful drugs, but can be dangerous and even fatal when combined with certain foods.
I hope that you will be able to find a pdoc who, at a minimum, has good manners, Anna. That is the least that any of us are entitled to.
