The newer antihistamine are built to get
around the drowsiness profiles of the older
ones like benadryl. You could switch to
benadryl, it may make you a little drowsy and
may even relieve some anxiety.

Does the allegra have the decongestant
pseudoephedrine in it? that would make you
anxious. You could switch to the Allegra without
it if that is the case. (I don't know much
about Allegra, I'm speaking from Claritin/Claritin-D
experience).

> My withdrawal from Paxil was going quite well until I crossed under 5 mg. I am on a very slow taper, about 1 mg every 2 to 3 weeks. I started on Allegra for various allergies coincident with the decrease below 5 mg. Now I am having recurring bouts of severe anxiety. I always avoided medications not wanting to "mix" them with Paxil. So the question is would medications like Allegra cause such a dramatic increase in anxiety? BTW, I am taking Xanax (alprazolam) 1.5 mg per day. I am experiencing the usual zaps, etc., which also increased when I went below 5 mg of Paxil. Any thoughts or references would be greatly appreciated. I am hoping to avoid having to deal with withdrawal vs. recurrence question again. This is my 5th attempt to discontinue Paxil over the last 3 years.
