Do sex problems with benzos remain like SSRIs?

Posted by Thrud on August 8, 2001, at 1:52:30

Hi everyone.

I am taking Lamictal (200mg/day) to see if I could get an antidepressant effect without libido problems.
It actually succeeded, but at the cost of very strong anxiety :(
My pdoc then put me on 10mg per day of Valium (about 2 weeks ago) and it has shot my libido. Just today I am switching to Xanax instead of Valium.
Some other support groups out there seem to think that the libido problems with benzos recede with time, like the sedation. Well, so far, the sedation has receded but not my loss of libido. This reminds me of the SSRIs.
Is it true that this effect should disappear? If not I am probably wasting my time with this combo of medications.
I am particularly interested in hearing from long term benzo users.

Thanks much!

Thrud
