It's not ALWAYS a long wait. That's individual, it can take effect in a week, it can take effect in *8* weeks.

> so i read your post about the "bathroom issue." grrrr... i'm there but not as bad as what you describe. so i'm thinking....

I'm really glad to hear someone else has the same problem, I was starting to feel like a freak of nature. Or I was afraid it was my new birth control pills, and I'd stopped BuSpar for nothing.

> elizabeth/sl- is this issue a serotonin thing perhaps? i just can't tolerate stuff that deals with serotonin (ie: SSRI's/serzone).

It deals with seratonin but not the same way as SSRIs. Cuz I don't handle SSRIs well either. I can't remember/describe what it does, but it's different. I believe it blocks the whole receptor, rather than reducing reuptake(?).
It didn't cause drowsiness for me, and SSRIs almost always do.

> in the meantime i'm trying to be diligent to drink more water and cranberry juice during the day. but am i just putting a bandaid on a symptom that will never go away unless i discontinue the buspar??????????

Drinking water and juice is always good for you, but I don't think it will help. Because it's NOT a urinary tract infection. It feels more like the valve at the top of the urinary tract opens, but the one at the bottom that's usually under conscious control, is NOT anymore. :/ Anyway, I don't think it'll help except maybe to put more pressure on the body to open that valve.

I'd say if you don't get...STUCK, like I did, keep taking your BuSpar and see if it gets better. I stopped it because ..well, I always did "go" often, I usually get up in the night and go to the bathroom, and not being able to pee is miserable and I can't sleep. :/ By the way, I'll tell you that it's almost 2 days later and I'm still not going normally. It's definately BETTER, but still not normal.

> i'm also battling edema now as well (grrrr). i know i've messed with my "scientific method" but i also started trazodone at the same time as the buspar so guess i can't completely say it's the buspar, but.....

Um. Can I ask a question? If you're stable on Wellbutrin, why're you adding trazodone, a second AD? Is your depression only partially treated by Wellbutrin, or does Trazodone have a purpose I don't know about?

(by the way, edema IS a side-effect of BuSpar as well, it's just not one _I_ have a problem with.)

Thanks for your input!
