Paxil for panic attacks: should I try Effexor /

I've been taking Paxil for panic attacks --I works great. EXCEPT, I've gained 30 lbs, can't sleep, can't have an orgasm, and sweat like a roofer. Other than that, it's perfect! :)
A friend recently told me that Effexor doesn't have the side effects like Paxil. Should I consider a switch? Do I have to be off Paxil several weeks before I can start Effexor?
