Constipation, Metamucil, Drugs.

Posted by Phil on June 19, 2001, at 21:45:09

My pdoc tests blood level of Amitriptyline, which I've been on again for several months. A few months ago, at 200 mg a day, my lab results were 176. She adds Amitriptyline and Nortriptyline levels to arrive at that sum.
I got my results today on the latest test which showed a sum of 56. I'm still taking 200 mg a day.
In our phone conversation, I mentioned that I had started Metamucil to deal with constipation. I have always used Senokot.
The label on Metamucil says to take it 2 hours before or after taking any meds so, of course, I ignored it. Evidently, it can or will bind to meds if you don't follow the instructions. Duh!
I don't know if anyone can use this information but it has been a slow day here so I thought I would pass it, so to speak, on.

Phil
