Luvox (or other SSRI) and Hand/Finger Tremors?

Posted by sptx2001 on April 6, 2001, at 11:23:56

I have been taking 150mg of Luvox for the past 6 weeks for depression/OCD......I have recently begun to notice that I have tremors in my fingers (primarily index fingers) and hands. They are generally fine tremors that aren't noticable to others, but sometimes seem pretty severe to me. I don't feel they are a direct result of anxiety, but I do feel more "energized" after being on the Luvox. They don't seem to be getting worse, but aren't going away either.

Could this be a side effect of the SSRI? I have heard that tremors can be, and that Luvox in particular can cause muscle/tendon weakness, which I would think could lead to tremors. BTW, I was on Luvox for about 2 years previously (that was about 4 years ago, though).....although I only was taking up to 100mg at that time and never exceeded that. I have no other physical side effects at this time(at least none that are still with me.....I had insomnia when first taking it 4 or 5 weeks ago), and I feel really good with plenty of energy. Thanks!
