I haven't heard that Effexor is helpful with losing weight, so I think that is a long shot anyway, and if the prozac works, I would be VERY hesitant to change it. There may be something that can be added to the prozac to help with the weight gain.

Perhaps ask your pdoc about a stimulant (ritalin, adderall, concerta, etc.).

Also, is your weight gain connected with increase in appetite? I recently started an oral contraceptive for symptoms of polycystic ovary syndrome and insulin resistance and it seems to drastically reduce my carbo cravings, as does exercise, btw.
