I took Paxil for several years, with no major side-effects, and it helped me a great deal until it pooped out. At that point, I went from 20mg/day to 60mg/day to get it working again, but all I got was periodic flushing and no more mood improvement. My mother has also been taking it for the last couple of years and hasn't had any problems. Everyone's different, but I think the odds are strongly in your favor.
