This is totally inappropriate to the lovely end to this thread--but here goes.
As I was eating my bagel this morning I created an aphorism that went thus: "Depressed people can't see the doughnut for the hole". Unfortunately, I later decided I didn't really create it, must have heard it somewhere. Still, it's the kind of concrete image I can easily keep in mind when deeper thoughts are out of reach..
