when i first went on effexor, i had a reaction close to that of amphetamines...i developed tremors in my hands, didn't need much sleep (and couldn't sleep), and my pupils were dilated to the point of completely covering my irises. after a while, all these side effects lessoned (and then ceased completely). is the effexor doing anything to help control your depression (i am assuming that is why you are taking it)? if so, it may be a good idea to stick with it in hopes that the tremors will subside soon. as for quiting the effexor cold turkey, there have been several posts about the evil side effects associated with doing so...withdraws ranging from severe flu symptoms to severe depression, though of course some people feel nothing, but better to take weening off it slowly.
are you on any other medication with the effexor?

good luck!
