Thanks to all of you for your responses. I guess everyone has a different reaction. This is the second time I've been on meds - three years ago I took Paxil 20mgs with no weight gain or any other side effect at first. I felt great after the drug took effect -- I was my old self with one exception -- the inability to orgasm.
After several months I stopped taking Paxil and the depression didn't return until a few months ago. My doc prescribed Celexa 20 mgs. and I'm hoping it will work as well as Paxil, without affecting me sexually or causing me to gain weight. The depression itself has brought on significant weight gain.
When I told my new doctor about the anorgasm caused by Paxil, he said that perhaps they should have increased the dose to 40mgs. Has anyone experienced fewer side effects on higher dosages?
