Hi Brad.
I hope this drug hasn't disappeared. I haven't tried it, and I don't know of anyone who has. What exactly do you know about the availability of rolipram?
What is the brand name?
What is it used for?
What are your impressions of its efficacy as an antidepressant?
For what reasons do you think it may have been withdrawn?I began looking into rolipram around 1984 or so. If I recall, it is a phosphodiesterase inhibitor that is thought to cause an increase in postsynaptic cAMP, a substance considered to be a "second messenger". I forget all of the details, but it was reported to have had some antidepressant properties and was investigated as such. I believe it is the (-) enantiomer that showed this activity. I don't remember that there was much of a consensus regarding its efficacy.
Perhaps rolipram might make a good augmenting agent. I bet it would be quite effective in this role for some people. I read some rat-brain stuff that suggests to me that desipramine might be a good choice for such a combination.
Sorry I don't have more info...
