W/ MAOI's, it's been my experience you have to go "up and over" -- _then_ back down to achieve a steady state of "euthymia."A doctor told me quite a while ago that it sometimes takes “extra” MAOI to establish the therapeutic percentage of inhibition required to achieve an antidepressant effect. Thereafter, this percentage of MAO inhibition can be maintained using a somewhat lower dose.
